Crop tops – The simplest thing makes difference
For several seasons, the popularity of crop tops has been building, and now the trend seems to have reached a new peak.
Designers like Phillip Lim and Alexandar Wang feature crops in their current collection, and the former summer-only fashion shows signs of continuing right into fall and winter, with softly cropped sweaters and shirts.

Celebrity crops
Celebrities have been rocking the crop top look both on the red carpet and off. To debut her new fragrance, Rhianna wore a cropped, pearly gray cardigan with a light blue skirt at the launch party, then sported a knit turtleneck crop top over khaki pants while out and about in New York.
Jessica Biel went casual at this year’s Comic Con dressed in a shimmering pale pink crop top over shorts.
Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale was spotted out shopping, wearing a tie-dye cropped halter crop top over the also-trendy new jeggings.
The new Cropped silhouette – You are not just buying a shirt
Today’s crop tops aren’t like the ornamented bras and too-small T-shirts of the 1980s and 1990s. The new silhouette is longer, looser and boxier, often with a slightly longer drape on the sides.
Fabrics are typically light, to avoid a too-boxy, stiff look. No longer all about showing off six packs, the new crop falls to the navel or just slightly above or below.
It’s a length that highlights the waist, rather than the midriff. For slim figures, this gives the illusion of curves. For fuller figures, it emphasizes the fashionable hour-glass figure. Rhianna prefers tighter crops, but then, she has the figure to pull that look off.
Here are a few trending style ideas for crop tops:
· Chic and Casual. Pair a pastel, short-sleeved cotton crop top with a deeper-toned, gauzy, long skirt. Add interest with spiky heel strapped shoes and chunky metallic jewelry.
· Katy Perry Cool. The Queen of the Crop Top, Katy Perry uses color to give her cute vintage crop tops an up-to-date feel. To get the look, match a crop and shorts in a single sherbet shade, worn with a belt in a contrasting color.
· Cropped, Not Bare. Get the crop top look while showing a minimum of skin with the new cut-off, boxy sweaters worn over a high-waisted pant.
· Making a crop top work is all about matching the material, length, cut and style to flatter the figure and to suit the occasion.
